Behind the Scenes: Lineman’s Story After Hurricane Beryl
This project came together under extraordinary circumstances. In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, while running on generator power, I interviewed a lineman working 16-hour shifts to restore power. The only available time for the interview was 4 a.m., just before his shift. Using only available light, I captured his perspective on the storm’s destruction and the resilience of those working to rebuild.
A highlight of this project was speaking directly with the county judge about the relief efforts. Hearing firsthand about the challenges and coordinated response from local leadership added depth and urgency to the story. With a tight 48-hour turnaround, including editing and livestreaming the gathering—all powered by generators—this project was a testament to teamwork and determination in the face of crisis.
